<div dir="ltr">Hi All, <div><br></div><div>In addition to Len's comments, since we now have the new callsign for the Massie Wireless Radio Club, N1EPJ, we can begin promoting the callsign by getting on the air regularly (hopefully) and inviting other hams to use the station (supervised). Even if it were once per month, as a club meeting, the station would become better known as the callsign gets out on the air. Our new QSL card (in process) might become a sought-after memento of old-school-confirmation-of-contact by other amateur radio operators, especially considering the historical nature of the station.</div><div><br></div><div>At Steam Up, in the Massie Building, the Morse code table generated lots of interest, conversation, and hands-on code activity all day long. One young boy was so mesmerized by the concept of using the code key to communicate that he wants to fully learn the code so he can help us out next year! </div><div><br></div><div>I left my post a few times during the day to check on things in the Wireless building. Each time I saw multiple visitors lining the hallway in front of the windows, pressing buttons to hear about what's in each display. It's a nice enhancement to both the guided and self-guided tour. </div><div><br></div><div>Many positive comments and some constructive ones as well. In particular, one guest recognized the 1949 poster of Q-codes, International Morse Code, Railroad code, etc., hanging on the wall in the Massie Building. He "knew" how rare and valuable it is and suggested it be put in a frame under glass. We can do that. </div><div><br></div><div>It was a great day all around. People had lots of fun.</div><div><br></div><div>Craig</div><div><br></div><div><br></div><div><br></div><div><br></div><div><br></div><div><br></div></div><br><div class="gmail_quote"><div dir="ltr">On Mon, Oct 1, 2018 at 7:10 PM Len Arzoomanian via Thursday <<a href="mailto:thursday@newsm.org">thursday@newsm.org</a>> wrote:<br></div><blockquote class="gmail_quote" style="margin:0 0 0 .8ex;border-left:1px #ccc solid;padding-left:1ex">

<div>As far as a tune-up. I attended and helped Bob with one years ago and
also displayed my Rhode Island radio collection in the Mayes Building.
David is right, no where near the number of people that attend steam-up.
On the one I helped Bob with, he ran some A, Multiple B & C voltages down a
long table for people to bring in their early battery operated sets and
run. We also had a small AM transmitter going so there was a nice signal
for everyone to receive.</div>

<div>The N. E. Antique Radio Club actually has 4 meets. Spring, Summer and
Fall and one joint meet with the Greater Boston Radio Collectors (Informal
group). The Greater Boston Radio Collectors meets will have their 50th
year in 2019. These meets are mostly about selling radios. There is
usually a contest for the best of some type of radio, brand, style...etc and
seminars on collecting, restoration...etc. Indecently the N. E. Antique
Radio Club has changed into the New England Vintage Electronics Club in an
attempt to being it more members. They now cover Radios, Computers,
Audio...etc.</div>
